Different to the Chardonnay that was used to produce the Chardonnay Family Reserve, these vines were planted at the Vasarelli ‘Home Block’ in 2000. In 1999, 13 acres of vineyard had been removed from the ‘Home Block’, which included some Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The reason being the 13 acres of vines were half rows of the three varieties and became too much of a problem for the Vasarelli’s when it came to vintage, so Pasquale Vasarelli removed all 13 acres and planted the Chardonnay along with the Sauvignon Blanc, the 13 acres is now known as the ‘Young Block’
This wine is produced from premium, hand picked, Chardonnay grapes. Displays well balanced aromas of tropical fruit and sweet vanillin oak characters. The palate compliments the balanced flavours of this wine with ripe tropical fruit characters of honeydew melon, peaches mixed with hint of pears. Crisp acids round out the finish that linger for some time.
For Pat and Vicky Vasarelli, the pairing of food and wine is as much of an art as their lively marriage.
This wonderful Chardonnay is rich and flavoursome. We recommend you match this wine with strongly flavoured white meat dishes.
