"Lunch on a hot day in McLaren Vale"

"We had lunch here with friends on one hot Thursday in January. We were seated promptly but then had to ask for menus as they did not arrive. Once gained, service progressed well and we had a lovely waitress who is front of house and whose husband is the chef.

You can order 2 courses for $26.90 or 4 for $45.90 or al la carte. There are the usual breads and share platters but as we only wanted something light we decided on one course only. Two of us had the salt and pepper squid, which was delicious, tender and very tasty, piled on a lovely salad with a very lovely home made dressing which was on the Starter menu, but could be served as a main. It was a sizeable portion so very worthwhile at $23. One of us enjoyed the Papardelle allo Scoglio, which was full of mussels, prawn, squid, scallops and very tasty and good value at $27. Our last luncher had the Schiaffettoni al Doppio Ragu $22, which was large pasta tubes with a slow cooked ragu made with pork, veal and beef. This was the least liked of the mains as it was thought to lack full flavour.

We enjoyed a glass of Vasarelli bubbles as something light with lunch which was pleasant. Overall, a nice place to lunch and we would go again to sit on the verandah and enjoy the passing scenery."
